Finnish band Kingwhip has released its debut album, Endless, a nine-track record blending grunge and heavy rock with melodic songwriting. The album came out May 29 on Mellowhead Creations, in both digital and vinyl formats, and was recorded and produced by Timo Väänänen at Saarisound Studio.
Formed in 2019, Kingwhip features musicians with ties to other Finnish underground acts including Huora, Day Eleven and Rytmihäiriö. Vocalist and guitarist Janne Pajari cites Alice In Chains and Black Sabbath as shared influences within the band, with vocal melodies drawing on artists such as Neil Young, David Bowie and Type O Negative, according to the announcement.
Endless follows singles released in 2023 and a six-track EP put out in 2024. The new album includes previously released tracks “Walk Away,” “Like A Wrecking Ball” and “What A Time To Be Alive,” the first of which has an accompanying music video. The band’s lineup includes Pajari, guitarist Paavo Pekkonen, bassist Onni Hamard and drummer Pate Vuorio.
