Raleigh, N.C. band Jack The Radio has released a reprised recording of “Warbirds,” a track from its 2024 album Under Lonely Light. The new version, recorded live and mixed by Danny Johnson in Raleigh, returns to the darker tone of the song’s earliest demos, according to the band.
The recording anchors a new split 7-inch vinyl release paired with “Till Tomorrow” by Winston-Salem act Crenshaw Pentecostal. Cover art is by George Hage, who said the bands had long wanted to collaborate on a split record and that the down-tempo re-recording of “Warbirds” shaped the cover concept.
The two bands will play release shows together on September 12 at Slim’s in Raleigh as part of Hopscotch Music Festival, and on September 25 at Gas Hill at the Ramkat in Winston-Salem.
