Jazz vocalist Jonathan Karrant has released “Full Circle (To Diane Schuur with Love, Jonathan Karrant)” via Green Hill Music. The album is a tribute to GRAMMY-winning jazz vocalist Diane Schuur, Karrant’s longtime mentor, and includes two tracks featuring Schuur’s vocals: “Caught a Touch of Your Love” and closing track “I’ll Be Seeing You.”
Schuur, who has largely stepped back from performing and recording, recorded “I’ll Be Seeing You” with pianist and musical director Tamir Hendelman, who also shaped arrangements across the record. According to the announcement, the session was an emotional one for those present. The album’s 11 tracks mix songs associated with Schuur’s repertoire with jazz standards including “Sunday Kind of Love” and “What a Difference a Day Makes.”
Green Hill General Manager Blake Davis said the collaboration reflects Schuur’s selectivity in choosing artists to mentor. The album follows advance singles “Caught a Touch of Your Love,” “What a Difference a Day Makes,” “New York State of Mind” and “I’ll Be Seeing You,” and is now available on major streaming platforms.
