Nashville-based singer-songwriter Bird (Janie Price) has released a new single, “The Lady Who Reads The Cards,” out now on streaming platforms. The song was co-written with longtime collaborator Jeroen Swinnen, who has previously written for Chiara Dubey and Stan Van Samang, and features bassist Darryl Jones, known for his work with the Rolling Stones and Miles Davis. It was recorded across Nashville, Texas and London.

According to the announcement, the track was inspired by a tarot card reading Bird had during a trip to New Orleans for the Folk Alliance Conference earlier this year. The label describes the single as blending foot-stomping country rhythms with atmospheric string arrangements and layered vocals, and says it marks the start of a new musical chapter ahead of a project to be announced early next year.

The single follows Bird’s most recent album, “Held Here Together,” released in June 2026, which included co-writes with Andy Dunlop of Travis, Ally McErlaine of Texas and Hal Lindes of Dire Straits. Bird has released six albums to date and also works as a filmmaker; her documentary “You Found A Friend In Elvis” has screened at several film festivals, including the Lighthouse International Film Festival.
