Gibson Custom has partnered with the estate of late Soda Stereo frontman Gustavo Cerati to release a limited run of 60 ES-335 guitars modeled on Cerati’s original 1965 instrument. The guitars will be sold exclusively through the newly opened Gibson Garage Miami, in person or by phone, starting September 18, 2026.
The recreation, built by Gibson Custom and aged by the Murphy Lab, replicates the details of Cerati’s original guitar, including its 60s Cherry finish, double pickguards, Grover kidney button tuning keys and Bigsby B7 vibrato tailpiece. Cerati bought the original ES-335 in the mid-1990s at Rudy’s Music in New York, and it later became a signature instrument throughout his career with Soda Stereo and as a solo artist, including appearances during the band’s 1996 MTV Unplugged taping, its 1997 farewell tour, the 2007 reunion tour and Cerati’s 2007 Live Earth performance with Shakira.
According to Gibson, the release marks the company’s first formal tribute to Cerati and is among the first exclusive product drops tied to the Gibson Garage Miami location. Each guitar ships in a custom hardshell case with a certificate of authenticity.
