Los Angeles-based singer and actress Veronica Powers has released “Old Hollywood,” the debut single from her upcoming EP. The track was recorded at RealSongs, the Hollywood studio founded by songwriter Diane Warren, according to the announcement.
Powers, a SAG-AFTRA member who has worked in entertainment since childhood, says the song draws on her family’s ties to Hollywood’s golden age, including her grandmother Jeanne Gray McDonald, an actress and broadcaster who hosted her own radio show, and her great-grandfather Patrick Murphy, who worked in special effects during the silent film era. She was discovered by producer AC Burrell and industry veteran CeCe Sammy, per the announcement.
The forthcoming EP, currently being recorded at RealSongs, is expected to include tracks titled “Don’t Disturb” and “Drama Queen.” Powers has also worked in voice-over and acting, including ADR work on “The Simpsons” and a lead role in Netflix’s “Misfit: The Series,” according to the announcement.
