New Brunswick soul singer-songwriter Ayden Hutch has released his debut single, “Waitin’ On Your Lovin’,” the first preview of his debut album “Sadness, Anger, & Something Greater,” due October 2. Hutch, who studied jazz guitar at Cégep de Drummondville and has played in New Brunswick acts Ananas and petipé, recorded the project entirely to analog tape at Studio 345 in Sainte-Hélène-de-Bagot, Quebec, with producer and longtime friend Sam Mallais.
According to the announcement, the album took shape over nearly two years and traces a difficult 2024 for Hutch, moving from heartbreak through anger to a newer, happier relationship, with songs sorted into those three emotional threads. Hutch says he wrote “Waitin’ On Your Lovin'” in about an hour, the day after meeting someone who has since become significant to him. The sessions also involved bassist-turned-drummer Sam Newman and bassist James Forest, both close friends of Hutch.
Hutch will support the release with a short fall tour backed by Newman, drummer Ismaël Chagnon and guitarist Loïk Martin, with dates announced in Moncton and Charlo, New Brunswick, and Drummondville, Quebec, from October 1-3.
