Anthology Recordings has released a cover of Robert Lester Folsom’s “Music and Dreams” by singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen, ahead of the title’s 50th-anniversary reissue due October 16. The track is part of a rollout for “Music and Dreams: 50th Anniversary Edition,” a double album featuring remastered audio from Folsom’s original 1976 self-released record, 10 previously unheard demos, and cover versions from other artists.
The Cohen cover follows an earlier single from the same project, a rendition of Folsom’s “April Suzanne” by Beach House, which according to the announcement drew coverage from outlets including Rolling Stone, Stereogum, SPIN, Clash, Consequence and Paste.
Cohen and Folsom both said the collaboration grew out of a friendship formed when they performed at the Newport Folk Festival, with Cohen citing Folsom’s songwriting as a longtime influence and Folsom describing their meeting and subsequent friendship in the announcement.
