Producer and sound designer DECAP has released SWUNG: The Pocket, a new sample collection through Splice, the companies announced. The pack focuses on groove-driven, off-grid rhythms rather than strict quantization, and was developed with input from 19 producers, drawing on rhythmic approaches associated with J Dilla, according to the announcement.
The release marks the first pack from DECAP outside his longtime Drums That Knock series and is issued under Knock Audio, a Splice-exclusive sample label he launched earlier this year. DECAP said in the announcement that the approach mirrors how he produces music himself, aiming for mix-ready sounds that work “right out of the box.”
Splice says Drums That Knock and other Knock Audio packs have been downloaded more than 20 million times and used by production teams working with artists including Snoop Dogg, Bad Bunny, Charli XCX and Dua Lipa. Kenny Ochoa, Splice’s SVP of Global Partnerships, said the company is proud to include Knock Audio among its exclusive label roster.
