Godsmack is campaigning for Grammy consideration for its concert film “Live at Mohegan Sun,” submitting the project for Best Music Film and putting forward its percussion showcase “Battle of the Drums” for Best Rock Performance and Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella, according to the band’s publicist. The arrangement credit goes to frontman Sully Erna.

The film captures the band, which includes Erna, Shannon Larkin, Tony Rombola and Robbie Merrill, performing the drum duet between Erna and Larkin that has become a recurring centerpiece of Godsmack’s live shows since the mid-1990s. A promotional campaign video pairs footage of the piece with archival commentary from the late Rush drummer Neil Peart, along with remarks from Modern Drummer. Godsmack says the band has sold more than 20 million records worldwide and has received four prior Grammy nominations.

A limited-edition 12-inch picture disc featuring “Battle of the Drums” and “I Stand Alone” from the concert film is set for release via Record Store Day’s Black Friday event on November 27, at participating independent stores. The full “Live at Mohegan Sun” project is out now via Primary Wave in digital, double vinyl, Blu-ray and CD formats. Godsmack continues its Rise of Rock World Tour this fall, including an October 24 date at Mohegan Sun Arena, the venue where the film was recorded.
