Canadian blues and roots musician Brother Ray Lemelin has released “Raw,” the fifth studio album from his band The Matinee Kings. The eight-track record includes seven original songs and a cover of a tune written by Lloyd “Tiny” Grimes.
Lemelin, who has performed across Canadian blues festivals and venues since the 1980s, has previously recorded with artists including Billy Branch and produced four earlier albums with the late guitarist Tim Williams. The Matinee Kings lineup on “Raw” includes Kelly Kruse on drums and vocals, Howard Schmenge on Chapman accordion, and Daniel Wilton on bass.
