Electronic artist Redfreya has released “Different Now” as the second track on Repetitive Nature, the label launched this year by Newcastle producer Pattn. The release arrived October 21, timed to coincide with the Orionid Meteor Shower, continuing the label’s stated concept of tying releases to celestial events.
According to the announcement, the track is a personal record for Redfreya, shaped by a period of loss, grief and relocation over the past year. Redfreya, who founded the In Limbo label and is a longtime Bloop Radio resident, has released on CHORUS and Reculture and performs alongside acts including Sasha & Digweed, Artbat and Damian Lazarus, the release states. The track previously closed out the Repetitive Nature launch party at fabric.
The release is paired with visuals from Toronto-based designer Liam Warr, who said he aimed to reflect the track’s atmospheric qualities through distortion and shifting geometric forms. Pattn said he was drawn to the emotion in the track’s chords and sound design, and described the label as intended to support the broader creative community around him rather than function solely as an outlet for his own music.
