UK rapper Tkandz has released his new track “UP RIGHT NOW” exclusively on BandLab, the platform the artist has said he first used to teach himself music production at age 15. The song follows a YouTube Short teaser that gave fans an early preview ahead of release.
The release builds on the momentum of Tkandz’s breakout single “NOW OR NEVER,” which according to the artist’s camp has surpassed 272 million Spotify streams and 3.3 billion TikTok views, reached the UK Top 30, and drew a co-sign from Drake. BandLab says Tkandz now has more than 2.5 million monthly Spotify listeners. Earlier this year he released his Prodigy EP, which included a remix featuring Lil Baby.
BandLab frames the exclusive release as a sign that platforms where artists got their start can continue to play a role once they reach a wider audience, even after achieving major streaming success elsewhere.
