Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico has released her new album, ‘Balancing Small Things On Sharp Edges,’ in North America through DMP/Fontana North/Universal Music Canada, marking her first release on a Canadian label. Dico recorded the album with her husband and musical partner Helgi Jonsson at their home studio, Big Spring Studio, in Seltjarnarnes, Iceland.
The album’s lead single, “Surfing,” explores interconnectedness through the lens of family dynamics, according to Dico. The second single, “This Fire!,” features Iceland-based artist EmilĂana Torrini, known for “Jungle Drum” and “Gollum’s Song” from The Lord of the Rings, marking the first collaboration between the two artists.
Dico celebrated the North American release with three concerts in Canada, including two nights at Ottawa’s Red Bird and a show at Toronto’s Allied Music Centre Theatre at Massey Hall, which the label says sold out. Dico has had five number-one albums in Denmark and performed at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival this past July. She is scheduled to tour Europe in November.
