Folk duo Buffalo Traffic Jam has released a new song, “Barely Holding On,” via Arista Records. Member Frankie Cassidy said the track grew from a piano verse written during a trip home to Montana, later developed with bandmate Nathan Ross and collaborator Joe Becker into a song about losing passion for something once loved.

The release follows a strong stretch for the Montana State University-formed act. According to the band, their 2027 “Pictures of You Tour” sold out within two hours of tickets going on sale, extending a streak in which every headline show and all dates announced through spring have sold out. The run includes two nights at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium plus stops at Minneapolis’ First Avenue, Grand Rapids’ GLC Live at 20 Monroe and Philadelphia’s The Fillmore.

The tour follows the band’s debut album, Pictures of You, released in July via Arista. The 14-track album includes “Fool’s Gold,” which the label says reached No. 1 on the U.S. Alternative Radio chart, was certified RIAA Gold and has surpassed 150 million streams. The duo previously earned Billboard’s Chartbreaker title in March 2026 and has topped 4.4 million monthly Spotify listeners, according to the announcement.
