Christian artists have often shown the power of encouraging people through music by promoting the message of the gospel in their art. Gospel musician Jimmy Mor aims to continue that legacy by encouraging artists to use their voices to make a difference in the world. With the goal of inspiring Christian millennials, Jimmy champions a message of transparency and vulnerability as a way of ministering the gospel to people. The self-reflective musician combines contemporary gospel, hip-hop, and R&B with his critically acclaimed album Diary of a Broken Christian as well as his new singles “Change Me” and “Be Somebody.”

Influenced by his father, an R&B producer and songwriter from Philadelphia, PA, Jimmy began his journey in music as a child singer. He began to write hip-hop music at the age of 10 and developed his style of story telling by using real life experiences to show people the power of authenticity in lyrics.

“I think people appreciate how honest I am in my music. I talk about my relationship with God and I’m very reflective. That makes people who think the way that I do feel like they’re not alone because if we have a similar testimony, that’s encouraging to hear,” Jimmy explains.

Jimmy believes that young Christians should use the style of music that is most authentic to them, regardless of how traditional it may be sonically. This is his idea of how millennials can grow their voice in gospel music.

Many artists in this category, like Jonathan Traylor, CalledOut Music, and Jonathan McReynolds, all hold their own when it comes to uniquely holding the banner of young, fresh gospel. Jimmy Mor aims to contribute to the movement by being himself and pursuing a music career that promotes a relationship with God and being a living testimony.
