Organizers announced Tuesday that Chicago’s largest music festival will return at full capacity from July 29 to August 1. Tickets for the four-day festival are on sale now. Organizers said single-day tickets will be available at a later date.
The festival was postponed last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, a decision Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot called “difficult.”
“Here in Chicago, the word ‘Lollapalooza’ has always been synonymous with summer, great music, and four days of unforgettable fun – which made last year’s decision to postpone it all the more difficult,” Lightfoot said in a statement Tuesday.
“Now, less than a year later and armed with a vaccine that is safe, effective, and widely available, we are able to bring back one of our city’s most iconic summer music festivals,” Lightfoot continued. “I want to thank the Lollapalooza team for working closely with the City to create a reopening strategy that prioritizes safety and can’t wait to see festival goers return to Grant Park this summer.”This year, proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result is required to attend. For fest-goers who are not fully vaccinated, a negative test result must be obtained up to 24 hours before entry.
