Music is an instrumental catalyst in the life of Chicago-born and raised rising singer, Chris Mar, helping him navigate through his life’s greatest challenges from running with the wrong crowd to using drugs and almost getting arrested for a DUI offense. What should have been a dark and dangerous path was transformed into something meaningful as he focused on his music and providing a good life to his son, who looks up to him in every way.

The Mexican-American singer and songwriter recently released a music video on YouTube titled Chris Mar-Bella, and is fast becoming a crowd favorite among fans of Spanish songs. Seven months ago, the 29-year-old singer also released his single titled Letter for You featuring Hannah Bielicki. He has written other promising singles that include Te Quiero Ver and La Primera, Spanish songs that have attracted fans from the Latin community to his distinct brand of music.

Chris Mar has been recording songs since the young age of 15. When he was just starting out, he recorded songs at Sonic Palace Studios under the mentorship of his sound engineer, SoundGuyMike. While he mostly writes Spanish songs to connect with the Latin community, he is now working on coming up with English songs to cater to a wider audience. More so, he wants to set a good example for his son, teach him to see things from a better perspective, and leave him with something that he can truly be proud of years from now.

“I wanted to create a legacy and start doing what I love to do. Making music calms me down and keeps me busy. It has helped me stay out of trouble and stay on the right path. I just love the feeling of creating something new. I enjoy writing and composing my songs. It’s the love that I have for it and the drive that makes me do more and more. I was working at my job and was working 10 hour shifts. It was the same routine over and over. I didn’t feel right and I felt like I needed to do something with myself. That’s when it hit me, I needed to focus on my music and show it to the world,” Chris Mar reveals.

The pandemic also had drastic effects on his songwriting and recording as the studio where he often records his songs were forced to close down for a couple of months. Determined to stay productive even during a very challenging season, he started connecting with other artists using the app Fiverr. As it turns out, Chris Mar was able to come up with exciting new beats in preparation for when the studio reopens. Finally, he is now back to recording these songs and is currently working on two music videos.

Chris is especially drawn to the experience of creating something new, something that has the potential of impacting the lives of other people. Staying in a full-time job did pay the bills, but it did not bring life to his spirit the way music does. For Chris Mar, professionalism is very important in order to make it in the industry, and it is for this reason that he maintains cordial relationships with people from the industry, conducts himself appropriately when meeting people for the first time, and works hard to get things done at all cost.

He looks forward to one day connecting with the right people who can help him take his music career to the next level. For Chris Mar, it is only a matter of time before the right record label takes notice of his rare talent and signs him up for an even exciting musical journey.
