Lil Nas X had a lot of buzz this year because of his song “MONTERO (Call my be your name)” and music video, which has such scenes as him giving a lap dance to a devil, colorful makeup, wigs and outfits. Fans were blown away by the video – more particularly because of the video’s comedic vibe and its significance to the LGBTQ+ community. However, there were also those who didn’t appreciate it at all.
After publishing the video, the rapper made a post on IG explaining its meaning in an open letter, “dear 14 year old Montero, i wrote a song with our name in it. it’s about a guy i met last summer. i know we promised to never come out publicly, i know we promised to never be “that” type of a gay person, i know we promised to die with the secret, but this will open doors for many other queer people to simply exist. you see this is very scary for me, people will be angry, they will say i’m pushing an agenda. but the truth is, i am. the agenda to make people stay the f*ck of other people’s lives and stop dictating who they should be. sending you love from the future.”
“MONTERO (Call me by your name)” was a lead-single for the next album of the artist, as he confirmed it on Sep 1, officially announcing the future release via Instagram.
Album “MONTERO” comes out on September 17, and Lil Nas X can’t wait for his baby to arrive. The usage of the word “baby” isn’t a coincidence – he literally posted a photoshoot of him being pregnant, captioning “SURPRISE! I can’t believe i’m finally announcing this. My little bundle of joy “MONTERO” is due September 17, 2021.”
Can’t wait to hear the baby!
