Anaheim-based singer-songwriter Bobbo Byrnes has released a memoir and companion album titled “Too Many Miles: On the Road with an Unofficial Rock & Roll Goodwill Ambassador,” drawing on more than two decades of touring. According to the announcement, the book grew out of over 3,200 pages of tour journals and covers more than 5,000 shows across most U.S. states and 15 countries, tracing Byrnes’ path from a backyard gig in Westford, Massachusetts, to a concert in Bremen, Germany.
The album, working in folk, Americana, alt-country and roots-rock territory, was recorded with longtime bandmates Tracy Byrnes on vocals and bass and Matt Froehlich on drums. Byrnes’ catalog spans more than 20 albums, including 2023’s “Two Days in October,” recorded at Berlin’s Hansa Studios and Dublin’s Windmill Lane Studios. The label says the project has received radio play in Italy, Northern Ireland, the Netherlands, the U.K., Sweden, Germany, Canada and the U.S., and earned a One to Watch designation on the Euro Americana Chart.
Byrnes is touring behind the release through the end of 2026, with dates across Germany, Austria, Belgium, the U.K. and Ireland in September and October before returning to the U.S. for shows and book events in Oregon, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and California, including appearances at Anaheim Public Library and the Twentynine Palms Book Festival.
