The Music Royalty Co. has launched MRC Publishing, a new publishing administration company aimed at songwriters, publishers and rights holders. The venture extends the company’s existing royalty management and accountancy business into publishing services, including copyright and rights management, royalty collection and distribution, income tracking, and sync licensing and pitching.
MRC Publishing is led by Andy Hegarty, formerly of Warner Chappell, alongside The Music Royalty Co. chief executive Ali Rigby and company founder Ray Bush, who also co-founded Curve Royalty Systems. The Music Royalty Co. was founded in 2014 and describes itself as a provider of royalty management and rights administration services for music industry professionals.
According to the announcement, the new company is intended to give rights holders more visibility and control over publishing income across territories, collection societies and digital platforms, and the team says it has already begun generating additional value from catalogues on its current roster.
