Somerset County Cricket Club has announced a joint venture with promoter Full Fat 360 to launch Somerset Sounds, a new annual summer concert series set to debut in 2027 at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton. The venue, which has previously hosted artists including Elton John, Rod Stewart and Lionel Richie, is being positioned as a new stop on the UK’s international touring circuit, according to the announcement.
Plans include main-stage outdoor shows on the cricket ground’s outfield, premium hospitality in the stands, and a fan village on St James Street offering food, drink and cultural pop-ups. The site is close to Taunton train station, with direct rail connections to London, Bristol and Exeter.
Full Fat 360, which also promotes the SMK Live series at Stadium MK and the BS3 Festival at Bristol’s Ashton Gate, will co-promote the new venture. The club says the cricket ground already draws 150,000 visitors annually and contributes more than £20 million a year to the regional economy while supporting over 200 jobs; organizers say Somerset Sounds is intended to build on that impact. A lineup for the 2027 edition has not yet been announced.
