Songwriter Aldae, known for co-writing Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” and songs for Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and Khalid, has released his debut single as an artist, “Blur,” out September 11. The track also appears in the film “Practical Magic 2.”
Born Gregory Hein, Aldae has writing credits on Cyrus’s “Flowers” and “Used to Be Young,” Bieber’s “2 Much,” “As I Am,” “Unstable” and “Somebody,” and Shawn Mendes and Tainy’s “Summer of Love.” According to the announcement, “Blur” marks his transition from behind-the-scenes songwriter to solo artist, with a sound the release describes as blending pop songwriting with a more atmospheric, cinematic style.
Aldae says he aimed to create a “dreamscape” for listeners with the track. The single is available on streaming platforms now.
