Toronto alt-rock band Selfish Things have released “Liability,” a new single with an accompanying visualizer, ahead of their upcoming album “Receptivity,” due October 9 via FLG.
Frontman Alex Biro says the record chronicles his struggle with addiction, which began during the band’s final tour before the pandemic, and his subsequent recovery. Biro, now four years sober, works as a sober coach and clinician, and says proceeds from the album will be donated to the hospital where he underwent rehab. The album was made with longtime collaborators Michael Ticar and Mike Tompa and mixed by Sam Guaiana, whose credits include Bayside, Neck Deep and Against The Current.
Selfish Things previously released the EP “Vertical Love” on A Wolf at Your Door Records and the 2019 LP “Logos” on Pure Noise Records, which the band says charted on Billboard before the pandemic forced a hiatus. “Receptivity” features 10 tracks, including “Liability,” and marks the band’s first full-length release since “Logos.”
