BMI held the third edition of its “Las Compositoras+” songwriting camp, a four-day retreat designed to support female songwriters in música Mexicana, according to the organization. The event, led by singer-songwriter Erika Vidrio, took place in Los Angeles and brought together writers Damaris Bojor, Lorena Cabral, Tania Dominguez, Poe Leos, MXKA, Marián Oviedo, Jacqie Rivera and Adriana Ríos.

Participants began at Fender’s offices, where each received a guitar and PreSonus equipment, before relocating to a house in Bel Air to write collaboratively for the remainder of the camp. BMI said the sessions produced new songs intended for potential placements.

Lilibeth Patron, BMI’s associate director of creative for Latin music, said the camp aims to build community among women in a genre she described as historically male-dominated. Fender supported the initiative.
