A Million Reasons, billed as the final completed studio album from outlaw country artist David Allan Coe, is set for release October 16 via F3 Entertainment/Symphonic. The 11-track project was recorded in 2017 through Average Joes Entertainment, spearheaded by Colt Ford with production from Noah Gordon and Lex Lipsitz, before being shelved and later acquired by Ken Madson in 2022, who oversaw the album’s completion following Coe’s death in April 2026 at age 86.
The title track, written by Jim Moose Brown, Shane Grove, David Wade and Erik Westfall, references Coe’s 2015 federal guilty plea in Cincinnati on a charge related to obstruction of IRS administration, according to the announcement. A music video for the song, incorporating footage of Coe revisiting the Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio where he was once incarcerated, is scheduled for release in early November.
The album also includes a newly recorded version of Coe’s 1975 hit “You Never Even Called Me By My Name,” which the label says reached No. 8 on the Billboard country chart and has been cited on best-of lists by SiriusXM and Rolling Stone. That track was released September 6, what would have been Coe’s 87th birthday.
