The Bridges for Music ADE Charity Cycle has raised close to £27,000 after the first day of its 10th edition, according to the organization. Roughly 40 riders, including actor Rosario Dawson and representatives from AlphaTheta, Resident Advisor, LabelWorx and Waterworks Festival, covered 138km from London toward Amsterdam in heavy rain on the opening leg of the two-day ride, which coincides with Amsterdam Dance Event’s 30th anniversary.

The charity ride supports Bridges for Music’s education programs in Langa Township, Cape Town, including the Bridges Academy and the Creative Club. Organizers say the current fundraising goal is to cover tuition for 100 students at the Bridges Academy in the coming year. Over its previous nine editions, the event says it has raised more than £511,000 from over 400 riders, helping fund the two facilities, which together support more than 300 young people annually through music education, mentorship and other services.

Bridges for Music founder and CEO Valentino Barrioseta credited the cumulative efforts of riders across the event’s history for building the two schools. The organization’s 10th anniversary activities continue with House of A, a day-long program at art’otel Amsterdam on October 22 featuring Kususa, Oskido, Kalawa Jazmee, Yamz, Phiwo and Paradise Sound System, alongside industry discussions and networking tied to ADE.
