Canadian folk musician Cara Luft will release “My Heart Will Always Be,” her first solo album in more than 13 years, on streaming services November 6 via Blue Case Tunes. The title track is out now as the lead single. Luft, a founding member of The Wailin’ Jennys and The Small Glories, co-wrote every original song on the record with Clayton Parsons, and recorded it over 12 days in Vancouver with producer Scott Poley and engineer Julia Graff. Grammy-winning engineer D. James Goodwin mixed the album, which features guest appearances from banjo player Alison Brown and The Weakerthans’ John K. Samson.

According to the announcement, the album was funded entirely by Luft’s fans and will be released first on physical formats at live shows before arriving on streaming platforms. The 10-track collection includes two traditional folk songs alongside originals, and closes with a cover of Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away.”

Luft is touring Canada through the fall and winter, including stops in Ontario and Quebec, and a series of “Girls Do Boys” shows on Vancouver Island and Salt Spring Island with Helen Austin, Shari Ulrich and Claire Coupland.
