Davidson, Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Tommy John Ehman has released “Without You,” a breakup ballad that serves as the lead single from his upcoming album ‘#1 on Jupiter.’ According to Ehman, the song withholds its title phrase until the final lines, a structural choice he says he made deliberately to increase its impact. He says he wrote the track roughly a decade ago but held off recording it, citing commercial caution around slower songs for independent artists.

‘#1 on Jupiter’ will otherwise compile 11 previously released singles Ehman put out individually over nearly ten years, spanning 2016’s “Drop It on You” through last year’s “The Tear,” marking the first time those songs have appeared together on an album. The collection also includes “Say You Are,” a duet with fellow Saskatchewan artist Amanda Hagel that the announcement says reached the 70s on the Canadian country singles chart. Ehman, who is from Craik, Saskatchewan, writes and records independently and plans a limited CD pressing of the album alongside its digital release.
