Nonprofit Beyond Music has launched an open call for its fifth collaborative album, inviting U.S. musicians to submit trumpet-based original compositions through November 23. Grammy-nominated trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is serving as guest artist and curator for the project, which requires submissions to involve teams of at least four artists from at least two different cultural backgrounds.
Twelve winning collaborations will be selected for the album. The grand prize team will travel to Miami in March 2027 to re-record its song with Maalouf as the album’s lead single, film a music video, and perform at a Montreux Jazz Festival Miami Jam Session, with Beyond Music covering related costs. The other eleven winning collaborations will each receive up to $6,000, shared among artists, along with professional mastering and mixing for their tracks.
Beyond Music, established by the Swiss Beyond Foundation with support from Tina Turner, says its community spans 171 countries and has produced 642 international collaborations, with more than $1.9 million awarded to artists to date, according to the organization. Previous volumes have featured collaborations with artists including Angélique Kidjo, Pheelz and Wiyaala. Participation in Vol.5 is free and open to singers, songwriters, composers, producers and instrumentalists across genres, provided every submission incorporates trumpet.
