Hamilton roots rock band Junkhouse has released “Hot Hot Sun,” the first new single from the group since reconvening in 2026. The track is out on High Or Hurtin and was co-written by frontman Tom Wilson with Gary Furniss, an early champion of Wilson’s songwriting who also produced, recorded and mixed the song at his Stonehouse studio. Furniss played multiple instruments on the track, with additional guitar from James Robertson and background vocals from Wilson’s son Thompson, who also plays bass in the current lineup.
Junkhouse formed in Hamilton in 1989 and broke through with its 1993 album ‘Strays,’ which went Gold in Canada and produced the singles “Out of My Head,” “Praying for the Rain” and “Big Brown Turtle.” The band followed with ‘Birthday Boy’ in 1995 and ‘Fuzz’ in 1997 before building a reputation as a touring act across North America, Europe and Australia. The current lineup pairs Wilson and original drummer Ray Farrugia with Thompson Wilson on bass, guitarist Aaron Goldstein, keyboardist Jesse O’Brien and Robertson on guitar.
Junkhouse is set to headline the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario on November 21.
