Metallica opened its Sphere residency in Las Vegas with the first “No Repeat Weekend” of the “Life Burns Faster” run, playing two shows on October 1 and 3 with entirely different setlists and visual productions. According to the announcement, the two nights drew a combined crowd of nearly 40,000 and included rare live performances such as “…And Justice for All” for the first time since 2014, “Devil’s Dance” for the first time since 2008, and the return of “The Outlaw Torn” after a gap since 2019.

The 24-show residency, produced by Live Nation, is scheduled to run through March 13, 2027, with paired dates continuing through the fall and into early 2027. Following the residency’s conclusion, Metallica’s M72 World Tour will return to North America for 12 stadium shows beginning May 8, 2027 in Vancouver and running through June 19 in Salt Lake City, with stops including San Diego, San Antonio, Kansas City and Indianapolis.

Live Nation says the M72 tour, which launched in 2023, has played to more than 5 million fans across 99 shows in 26 countries to date. The promoter also says nearly 700,000 tickets were sold within one week for the newly announced 2027 North American stadium dates.
