Previously, Ku has written for Fifth Harmony, Rita Ora and Skrillex, Martin Garrix, and Dua Lipa. Georgia Ku is currently featured on NOTD and Felix Jaehn’s “So Close” alongside Captain Cuts.

DEUCE is the go-to place for independent bands and artists from all over the world who are seeking low cost but high-quality promotion for their music. DEUCE takes great pride in providing its clients with the most competitive rates in the music industry for radio promotion. Unlike most PR companies, DEUCE can guarantee radio exposure on 50+ radio stations worldwide before an artist or band’s promotion campaign even begins via the Deuce Radio Show.
DEUCE has a large list of radio contacts and reviewers that have a genuine interest in new/independent music helping increase the chances of exposure globally. DEUCE is regularly seeking new opportunities to help promote Deuce Acts further – such as gigs, discount studio time, collaborations with established music producers, music licensing and plenty more. Success stories include national radio play, FM stations offering to broadcast The Deuce Radio Show, chart success for a number of acts, and most recently a live 25-minute interview and performance on BBC Radio London for a Deuce Act.
We recently sat down with Rob Saunders, the owner of DEUCE Music, to find out more about his company and how DEUCE is helping artists and bands reach new heights.
MIW:For those who don’t already know, where is DEUCE Music based and where do you operate?
Rob Saunders:
DEUCE is based in London, England and we work with clients worldwide.
MIW:How did you come up with your company name?
Rob Saunders:
Growing up, I was a die-hard KISS fan, so I named my company DEUCE after one of their songs taken from their first album released back in 1973. Rumor has it, I also have KISS tattooed somewhere on my body, but that’s another story.
MIW:What exactly does your company do?
Rob Saunders:
DEUCE offers bands and artists worldwide international radio exposure for their music as well as various other means of promotion at low-cost rates. The promotion also provides me with insight into how well received their music is by radio presenters and listeners and also how professional the acts are. In some cases, if I believe I can take things further for an act, additional promotion may be offered to them and occasionally management offers too.
MIW:What inspired you to start your company?
Rob Saunders:
After moving to London in 2001, I started managing my friend’s band. Like most people first starting out in the music industry, naivety plays a big part in decisions you make and there are plenty of companies who take full advantage of this.
We were approached by a PR company who promised the band national radio play, reviews in popular publications, high profile gigs, etc. Gullibly believing the company, we parted with over £1000 for a month’s promotion. The outcome of the promotion was a spot play on an unknown internet radio station which has since been long gone.
After researching further, I discovered that this was quite a common problem independent acts had experienced, not just with the PR company we used, but with plenty of other PR or promotional companies in the music industry. It made me think, what if there was a company that could offer promotion at affordable rates for independent acts, with a guarantee of exposure. From there, the seeds for DEUCE were sown.

MIW:What are the biggest challenges facing emerging bands and artists today?
Rob Saunders:
Being heard and making a living from their music. It is easier than ever for bands and artists to make their music available through various streaming services but when 40,000 tracks (at the time of writing) are added to Spotify each day, how do you get yourself discovered?
Most emerging bands and artists cannot live on revenue made from streaming royalties, so they have to make their money from touring. But how do you build up your fan base to be able to make money from touring?
That’s where DEUCE comes in. We help bands and artists navigate these choppy waters and help implement a solid gameplan that is customized specifically for them.
MIW:What is the best piece of advice you can give bands or artists that want to make their mark in the music industry?
Rob Saunders:
Have a good story about you; something that makes you different from the rest no matter how minor. With so much music being released daily, it is often the story about a band/artist that can grab people’s attention first before their material. A good story also increases your chances of radio interviews and reviews as it provides the interviewer with more questions to ask or write about. This in return provides you and your music with more exposure.
MIW:What is your favorite part about the music industry? Your least favorite? Why?
Rob Saunders:
My favorite part of the music industry is not knowing what the next day is going to bring. Sometimes it can be a great act that contacts you whose music excites you; other times it can be established figures in the music industry who have worked with famous acts who make contact with me after hearing about the work I am doing.
I also enjoy passing
on good news to acts about their music being played on various radio stations
or forwarding positive reviews about them.
My least favorite part about the music industry is the unscrupulous companies, large and small, that still operate within, who set out to unfairly monetize from bands and artists.
In addition to the PR company experience I had, I have also had encounters with an internationally wanted fraudster and a number of other people who like to promise the world but never deliver. It all makes for a good story though.
MIW:What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Rob Saunders:
Always believe in what you are doing. Listen and learn from any snippets of information you can gather from established music industry figures you may have the opportunity to speak to. And never listen to advice from people working a standard 9-5 job – it’s likely to be negative.
MIW:Tell us about the DEUCE Radio Show.
Rob Saunders:
The Deuce Radio Show
is presented by Matt Barker and features bands and artists promoted by
DEUCE. It is currently being
broadcast on over 50 radio stations around the world including the UK, USA and
Australia after originally only starting out as a podcast show.
The show was set up
so I am able to guarantee to bands and artists that when they are promoted by
DEUCE they will receive radio play.
At the time of writing, we are fast approaching our 500th
show.
Strangely, I have
still not met Matt Barker in person despite him hosting the show for over 5
years.
DEUCE Radio Show – Music Industry Weekly
MIW:Are there any current bands or artists that DEUCE is working with that our audience should be looking out for?
Rob Saunders:
I am currently
working with a Syrian born RnB artist called Mai K who is now based in
London.
We met by chance in a
Fish & Chip shop and after over hearing her talking about her music
exchanged contact details. In the
past she has collaborated with a number of top acts but has now released her
own material which is receiving very positive reviews and a large number of
radio stations playing her too.
Most recently, she
was interviewed and performed live on BBC Radio London which has since opened
the door to more opportunities.
MIW:What does the future hold for emerging bands and artists?
Rob Saunders:
I recently attended the Camden Rocks Music Festival; a yearly weekend event in Camden Town, London, where bars and music venues open their doors to signed and unsigned acts. One band that I watched happened to mention they had CDs available after the show and all they wanted in return was an email address for their mailing list. It did make me wonder, is this how dispensable music has now become?
The
truth is, no one really knows what the future holds for emerging bands and
artists. One thing is for sure
though, events like Camden Rocks prove there is still a huge interest in bands
and artists old and new on the live music scene. The key now is to establish ways acts can monetize more from
their recordings.
MIW:How can our readers connect with you or your company on social media, learn more about your company, or stream/download music/videos from the bands and artists you work with?
Spoon announced brand new album Everything Hits At Once: The Best Of Spoon, due out July 26 on Matador. They are also getting ready to tour North America to perform their new single “No Bullets Spent” among many others. This is their first new song since 2017’s Hot Thoughts.
Frontman Daniel talks about the LP: “The idea of doing a best-of came to us a couple times. First I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but at some point I remembered that when I got my first Cure record it was Standing on a Beach. When I got my first New Order record, it was Substance. That was how I met those bands, and I moved backwards from there but I still listen to those comps. I love a greatest hits LP when it’s done well. It can be a thing unto itself.”

At just twenty-seven, Alejandra has earned the distinct recognition of being a “mover and shaker” in the music industry. She is a passionate, music-driven individual who has been in the Latin music business for over seven years. Alejandra started her career as an intern in the A&R department at Universal Music Latin America. Driven by curiosity and an eagerness to keep learning, she explored other areas of the music and entertainment industry and graduated FIU in 2013.
Alejandra soon landed a job at NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises heading the music section of their digital department. After three successful years, she leveraged her knowledge and experience into more passionate endeavors by moving to a record label where she felt the “magic” truly happened. Alejandra is now the head of publicity and promotions for all artists at Warner Music Latina where she is responsible for the evolution of artists ranging from Sofia Reyes to artists like Zion & Lennox and Jesse & Joy. A few months ago, Billboard released an article highlighting a few top PR women executives and Alejandra was one of the few women that were fortunate enough to be featured in the prestigious publication.
We sat down with Alejandra to learn more about her career and what it took for her to become a mover and shaker in the music industry.
MIW:What exactly do you do in your current position at Warner Music Latina?
Alejandra: I currently lead publicity and promotions which ultimately means that I seek different opportunities to generate maximum exposure for our artists in the U.S. This varies from creating and executing extensive promotional plans, to building and cultivating relationships with key media and decision makers in the industry. I write and distribute all press releases and make sure that I am included in every meeting, both internally and with each artist’s team, to strategize innovative ideas to generate successful releases. Most importantly, I have the responsibility for the evolution of many artists such as Anitta, Sofia Reyes, Piso 21, Jesse & Joy, Zion & Lennox, among others.
MIW:What was the biggest challenge you faced in your career and how did you overcome it?
Alejandra: I started my career at a very young age and, at first, it was very challenging to make management teams or colleagues respect and trust my judgment and knowledge in strategic decisions. As time went by, as a result of my self-confidence and expertise, I started gaining credibility in the industry and started showing successful results in all key aspects of my job.
MIW:What piece of advice do you wish someone would have given you at the start of your career?
Alejandra: To always find a balance between work and your personal life. As they say, balance is key. It is extremely easy to get caught up with the glitz and glam of the industry, but it’s extremely important to focus and never lose sight of who you really are. I was luckily able to learn this pretty early on in my career and definitely live by it.
MIW:Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?
Alejandra: It’s hard to argue that Julie Greenwald, the chairman/COO of Atlantic Records, isn’t one of the most accomplished and respected executives in the music industry. I definitely admire her because setting aside the fact that she has helped play a key role in the careers of superstar artists Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Portugal The Man, Ed Sheeran and so many others, she has demonstrated that a woman can be a leader and someone that inspires and helps make a change in a male-dominated industry.
MIW:Is there a particular person or people who you are grateful towards who helped you get to where you are today?
Alejandra: A person that I will forever be grateful for helping me get to where I am today is Carlos Pérez. Once my A&R internship at Universal Music ended, because I was curious to see what really happened behind that closed marketing door, I had the opportunity to extend my internship and start in the marketing department. There I met Charly, National Senior Director of Publicity, a true mastermind of his craft. He believed in me from the very first moment and pushed me professionally to levels that I would have never thought I would reach. The things he taught me as an intern are still very much present in a lot of decisions that I make today.
MIW:What advice do you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?
Alejandra: I would tell them to do as many internships as possible. They definitely help put your foot in the door and give you a feel to see if what you always envisioned is, actually, what you really see yourself doing in the future.
MIW:What are you most excited about in your career right now?
Alejandra: I’m extremely excited to be able to be working in the Latin industry, in charge of searching for different opportunities for artists, at a time where Latin music is truly becoming universal and being talked about worldwide. Daily, we are seeing how musical borders are being broken down with different collaborations that are happening or by seeing how the top positions on global charts are being dominated by Latin artists. It’s exciting to be able to explore different mainstream platforms for Latin artists and start moving away from traditional ones.
MIW:Do you have a favorite Artist or Band that you’ve worked with? If so, why?
Alejandra: As cliché as it may sound, I genuinely like working every single artist that is on our roster. I’ve learned to appreciate the fact that every artist is a completely different world— with different upbringings, likes, dislikes, passion points— but they all share the same objective which is that they make music with the ultimate goal of making someone feel some sort of way, and that, alone, is incredible.
MIW:How does it make you feel to have accomplished so much at such a young age?
Alejandra: I feel very proud to be a young, Hispanic woman working in the Latin music industry at a time like today. Latin music is being consumed all over the world, dominating global charts and breaking all types of musical boundaries.
MIW:How do you feel about the future of the music industry?
Alejandra: There is no arguing that the music industry is extremely fast-paced and ever-changing but that, precisely, is the fascinating thing about it. Within my seven years in the industry, I have witnessed so many different streaming trends, user consumption patterns but, most amazingly, I’ve seen how Latin music has obtained a whole new meaning and is now breaking all types of boundaries. I don’t know what the future holds for the music industry but there is no doubt that what’s to come is very exciting.
MIW:How can our readers connect with you on social media or learn more about you?
Taylor Swift lives in a fabulous LBTQ trailer park in her new music video “You Need to Calm Down.” It shows her floating in a pool as her trailer went up in flames. The music video closes with T Swift and Katy Perry making peace.
Taylor is used to releasing songs and videos that break the internet, and this one is no different. Here are some of her thoughts behind her song and the music video: “I’ve observed a lot of different people in our society who just put so much energy and effort into negativity, and it just made me feel like, ‘You need to just calm down. Like, you’re stressing yourself out. This seems like it’s more about you than what you’re going off about. Like, just calm down.”
The music video has everyone in an uproar both fans and haters. What’s your opinion about the video? Watch it below!
