Premium subscription streaming generated $3.1 billion for US rightsholders in the first half of 2026, up 7.8% year-over-year, according to new figures. The growth underscores paid subscriptions’ continued role as the primary revenue driver for the recorded music business.

Total industry wholesale revenues across all streaming and other formats reached $5.97 billion for the period, an increase of 6.9% compared to the same span last year.
