London house artist Rossi. has released new single “Misery” via his own HOME//GRXWN imprint on Chaos. The track pairs a low-slung bassline and stripped-back percussion with an electroclash-tinged vocal, marking a departure from the artist’s recent output.
According to the announcement, Rossi. began writing the song after watching the 1990 film of the same name, drawing on its imagery and narrative of being trapped in misery. He says the record’s darker tone and menacing bass reflect that inspiration while staying rooted in what he describes as his signature funky, deep grooves.
The release follows an active period for Rossi., including a Gold-certified collaboration with Jazzy, “High On Me,” which the label says reached the upper end of the UK Official Charts, plus performances at Coachella, Circoloco, Space Miami, Parklife and a sold-out show at London’s KOKO, according to the announcement. He also released “On Your Mind” with songwriter bbyclose in July, which received Danny Howard’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1.
