The Hails have released “Pack It Up,” the latest single from their upcoming sophomore album Duckpond, due October 23 via ONErpm. The song follows previous album tracks “Corruptor,” “Fool” and “Story of You and Me.”
Lead singer Robbie Kingsley said the track’s melodic sensibility recalls Julian Casablancas, joking that he worried the band was ripping off the Strokes frontman’s work, though he noted the song’s outro departs from that influence. Duckpond was produced by Brandon Shoop, who has worked with Role Model, Dijon and Junior Varsity. The band, based across Miami, Washington D.C. and Brooklyn, recorded the album after renting a house together in South Florida to write in person.
The album’s music videos, including the one accompanying “Pack It Up,” depict the band as 1930s bowling-alley pinsetters, a profession eliminated by automation, which the band uses as a metaphor for the precarity of being a working musician in 2026. The Hails will support Ax and the Hatchetmen on select dates before launching a headline tour next month, with stops including Brooklyn’s Elsewhere on Oct. 29, the Echoplex in Los Angeles on Nov. 14, and shows in Miami and Tampa in November.
