The O2 has received a “Highly Commended” rating from A Greener Future (AGF) under its Greener Arena Certification, the venue’s highest sustainability accreditation since joining the program in 2022, according to the announcement. The rating represents a two-tier improvement over that period.

According to the announcement, the London arena has cut carbon emissions per show by 27% and per fan by 26% since 2022, helped by energy efficiency upgrades, a renewable electricity power purchase agreement with Ecotricity, a shift to electric on-site vehicles, and a 31.5% reduction in food service emissions since 2019. The venue also says its recycling and composting rate rose 15% in 2026.

Sam Booth, AEG International’s director of sustainability, called the certification a reflection of years of investment and collaboration across the business. AGF CEO and co-founder Claire O’Neill said the venue’s progress sets an example for the wider live events sector. The O2, which opened in 2007 and hosts more than 200 events a year, is marking its 20th anniversary in 2027.
