Academy Music Group, the U.K.’s most popular hub of live music and club venues are making a switch towards mobile ticketing. Venues like London’s O2 Academy Brixton, Shepherd’s Bush Empire, and more are following this deal with Ticketmaster.

“We’ve been testing digital solutions with Ticketmaster over the last year. It’s such a user-friendly platform and we’ve received  positive feedback from music fans as the system gives people an easy way to manage their tickets right from their mobile.”

– Graham Walters, COO Academy Music Group.

Ticketmaster’s mobile ticketing solution involves digital tickets being delivered directly to a user’s phone. They can also be transferred to a friend using a Ticketmaster account, or re-sold on its fan-to-fan exchange.

Last fall, Ticketmaster announced this “new way” of ticketing for the first time before shows and it was a complete success.

“Digital ticketing is the future and our partnership with Academy Music Group is another step in our mission to put mobile first,” said Andrew Parsons (Ticketmaster manager/director).

Alongside O2 Academy Brixton and O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Academy Music Group owns venues in Glasgow, Liverpool, Leicester, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle. All 19 of the company’s U.K. venues will now accept mobile tickets as well as traditional paper tickets.
