Artist House has hired Jim Cooperman as chief operating officer, overseeing business and legal affairs, operations and publishing for the New York-based music company, which combines a record label, publishing, management and recording studios under one roof.
Cooperman joins Artist House after 14 years at Madison Square Garden Entertainment, where he was senior vice president and associate general counsel for legal and business affairs, handling agreements for venues including Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the Beacon Theatre and the Chicago Theatre, and helping structure deals for Sphere residencies by U2, Phish, Dead & Company and the Eagles. Earlier in his career he held senior business and legal affairs roles at BMG Entertainment, Wind-up Entertainment, RED Distribution, Relativity Records, LOUD Records and RCA Records, and co-founded tinyOGRE Entertainment, a joint venture with Sony Music.
Artist House co-founder Steve Lerner said Cooperman’s experience and integrity would support the company’s continued growth. Artist House was founded by Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Gregg Wattenberg and Lerner.
