Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) opened its 30th anniversary edition on October 21, running through October 25 across the Dutch capital. The event, billed by organizers as the world’s largest festival and business gathering for electronic music, is hosting more than 3,600 artists across over 1,300 events in some 300 venues this year.

French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre is serving as this year’s Guest of Honour, with appearances spanning ADE’s conference and festival programming, including two talks at Felix Meritis and a headline audiovisual show at AFAS Live. The anniversary edition also features a newly launched Icon Series pairing club culture with classical institutions, including a collaboration between artist Boris Acket and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and a performance by Kybba with the Metropole Orkest at Melkweg.

Other programming includes a free open-air pop-up on Leidseplein featuring Richie Hawtin, Ogazón, Luigi Madonna and Kristin Velvet, and an expanded ADE Lab at Westergas that now includes a free-access Lab Discovery strand alongside a new mentorship-driven ADE Lab On Track academy. Additional 30th-anniversary specials and initiatives are expected to be announced in the coming months, according to the organization.
