De La Soul will release a 30th anniversary edition of its 1996 album “Stakes Is High” on October 23 via A.O.I. Records, distributed by Chrysalis. The reissue includes a remastered version of the original album along with previously unreleased instrumentals, remixes and rare recordings, according to the announcement.
The collection features a J Dilla remix of the title track with Mos Def and Truth Enola, released today alongside a visualizer, as well as an alternate J Dilla remix, full instrumental versions of the album and additional tracks including “Chanel No. Fever” and “I Can’t Call It.” Physical formats include a 4LP hardcover edition with black-and-white spoke-pattern vinyl and UV artwork honoring the late Trugoy (Dave), a 2CD hardcover edition, and exclusive vinyl variants through Amazon, Germany’s HHV and Fat Beats/Get On Down.
“Stakes Is High,” De La Soul’s fourth studio album and its first without producer Prince Paul, reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, with the title track peaking at No. 53 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, the group says. The anniversary release follows the 2023 arrival of De La Soul’s catalog on streaming platforms and the group’s 2025 album “Cabin in the Sky” via Mass Appeal.
