Bluegrass group The Appalachian Road Show is set to appear on the Grand Ole Opry lineup Sunday, October 18, in Nashville. The booking comes days before the band’s two nominations are decided at the 37th Annual IBMA Bluegrass Music Awards in Chattanooga, where the group is up for Album of the Year for “Della Jane’s Heart” (Billy Blue Records) and Instrumental Group of the Year.
The Opry date follows founding member Jim VanCleve’s induction into the National Fiddler Hall of Fame on October 4, during a band concert in Boone, North Carolina. Newgrass musician Sam Bush was inducted the same night, and fellow Hall of Fame member Stuart Duncan made a surprise appearance to present VanCleve’s award, according to the announcement.
The Appalachian Road Show, formed in 2018 and featuring Barry Abernathy, VanCleve, Darrell Webb, Zeb Snyder and Jeff Partin, won IBMA’s New Artist of the Year and Instrumental Group of the Year awards in 2021. The band has additional dates scheduled through December, including stops in North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland and Virginia.
