Curse words and violent images are rampant in today’s songs and other forms of media. It is not surprising to find top hits on radio and streaming platforms, such as Spotify and Apple Music, about drugs and the degradation of women. Nowadays it is easy to find music lacking positive messages; their trendy beats camouflaging the negative content, causing a desensitization for its listeners. Fortunately, there is a new young voice making a difference.

East Coast personality, Daniel Light has entered the music industry with a message of “honesty and self-acceptance” in mind. Singing about tribulations and heartache, Daniel is not afraid to get personal with his listeners. “I love when people come up to me and tell me they connect with my music because they relate to it on a personal level. Those kinds of interactions really motivate me to continue writing and expressing myself through song.” said Daniel in a live interview with the Tribal Tribune.

Born in the East and raised on the southern coast of the United States by his Latina mother and French father, Daniel is not afraid to break the mold.  In just over a year Daniel has met with several Grammy award winning producers who represent established artists such as: Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, Fergie and Bob Marley to name a few. At the age of 16, Daniel flew to LA to film his first high production music video.

Now at seventeen years old, Daniel is taking over a neglected demographic fast. All of his music is clean, non-violent and anti-drug (as he does not believe in nor wish to partake in such vices), but it’s not Christian rock. With his experimental alternative sound, Daniel always has fans sitting on the edge of their seats excited to hear what he comes out with next.

Daniel’s sound is marked by its melodic style, catchy hooks and relatable stories of adolescence; stories that let his peers know it is perfectly okay to be vulnerable. Especially, in a world that is pressuring them to filter their looks, perfect their style, and mainstream the way they act.

Daniel believes that social media, in particular, has imprinted a false reality on the minds of America’s youth. For example, a lot of teenage girls are upset with themselves because they cannot meet the standards being shown 24/7 on Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Reality stars and idols post Photoshopped photos that perpetuate unrealistic standards of beauty. Other teens, meanwhile, think that acting up — using drugs and engaging in delinquent activity — is the easiest way to become popular. Daniel wants his fans to know that’s not true and it’s okay to break away from these unhealthy behaviors.

The arts have the power to inspire and change people. Daniel has positively impacted other people’s lives. He’s distinguished himself as a unique voice by being 100% unapologetically himself. Daniel is driven by the passion for promoting self-love and self-acceptance among the listeners who are following his music.

The future is bright for Daniel Light. 2019 saw his emerging success — he was listened to in 77 countries and garnered hundreds of thousands of streams on his music. 2020 will definitely prove to be another amazing year for him. He looks forward to touching more people’s lives. He has far more to offer to today’s youth than just his music. Not only is Daniel an artist but an actor and entrepreneur as well. He has been in multiple theatrical productions and currently owns his own clothing brand, serving as the CEO and lead designer of Private Skool.
