Country singer-songwriter John PayCheck has released “Daddy Are You Listening?”, a single reflecting on his relationship with his late father, country legend Johnny PayCheck. The track, out digitally November 6, is the fifth preview single from PayCheck’s forthcoming third studio album, Better Plan, due November 27 via HorseBite Entertainment.

According to the announcement, the song imagines a conversation PayCheck never got to have with his father, touching on his military service, marriage and fatherhood of three daughters. PayCheck says in the release that he wanted to convey to his father what he has accomplished since childhood, including meeting his wife and children.

The single follows other tracks from Better Plan, including “Texan One Day,” released October 9, and “Battles You Never Knew,” a September 11 release addressing the commercialization of military sacrifice in country music that PayCheck says was shaped by his own decision to enlist. The album also features “Sons Of The Spark,” a collaboration with Struggle Jennings that the label says was placed on Holler’s New Country Songs playlist. Better Plan was recorded at Gnome Studios in Nashville and produced by Bill McDermott, whose credits include George Strait, Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley.
