Gothic folk singer-songwriter Kira McSpice has released her new album, The House, via Danger Collective. The record is the third installment in her four-part series “A Return in 4 Parts,” following Saturnism and The Desert, both released earlier this year.
The House traces a trance-like journey back to McSpice’s childhood home in Harlem, Georgia, blending gothic folk, alternative rock, ambient and chamber music elements, including a choir made up of friends. The album’s highlight track, “Let It Pull You,” centers on a 2024 trip McSpice took back to her hometown, which she had not visited since leaving at age 13. According to the announcement, the project also draws on a guided trance McSpice underwent with breathwork facilitator and hypnotherapist Trina Merz, exploring themes including a fraught family relationship and the death of a friend.
The 12-track album follows prior singles “Wreckage” and “Return.” McSpice, a New York-based artist and classically trained cellist, previously released the album The Compartmentalization of Decay in 2024.
