Singer-songwriter Micah Sheveloff has released “Someone There For Me,” the first single from his upcoming album “Don’t You Wonder,” due January 15, 2027. The song was co-written by Extreme frontman Gary Cherone and jazz composer Benny Golbin, and grew out of a decades-long friendship between Sheveloff and Cherone that dates back to their time playing together in Boston in the 1980s.

According to the announcement, Cherone brought Sheveloff an old demo in fall 2024 with the idea of recording it in an American Songbook style with jazz musicians, but touring commitments for Extreme’s album “SIX” delayed the session. Sheveloff subsequently reworked the song himself, altering the tempo and vocal melody and adding a new bridge, with jazz guitarist Nate Najar also appearing on the track.

The album features 12 tracks, including “City Bus” and “Tranquility,” and draws on influences the announcement lists as ranging from Lyle Lovett and Herbie Hancock to Cheap Trick and Brian Wilson. Sheveloff, a classically trained pianist raised in Lexington, Massachusetts and now based in St. Petersburg, Florida, has worked across classical, country, pop, rock and metal sessions over his career.
