Corey Parks is a visionary. He has a heart for making good music, but his goal doesn’t end in producing tracks. Corey goes by the stage name C.J.P., New York City Rap Star. Some critics and hip-hop enthusiasts would say that Corey is what the rap business has been missing. His music does not only boast of engaging rhythm but also contains lyrics that are direct reflections of the rapper’s past.

Corey’s latest project, New York City Rap Star Mixtape, reached listeners on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019. It was hosted by DJ Immortal of Outlaw Radio and quickly made waves with the local community. Not only did Corey surprise the town he grew up in, but he also told the story of how he became the man that he is today.

The rapper had a difficult upbringing. Corey struggled to live as clean as possible, but he still found himself involved with drug dealing, gangs, and violence. His life took a turn for the worse when he ended up in prison at only 16 years old and spent the next 15 years of his life behind bars. After his release, Corey found it hard to reenter the world.

To help other people like him, Corey founded Success is a Journey Inc., a charity focused on helping inmates navigate their life after prison. The foundation also assists high-risk youth. Success is a Journey Inc. has mentored, coached, and trained over 500 individuals to realign their lives, find their purpose, and start their businesses. In 2016, Corey received the Certificate of Excellence for Re-entry Award from Tracey L. Fisher. It was in recognition of Corey’s outstanding service and selfless commitment to the citizens of New York.

On top of that, Corey is a professional speaker and a recognized leadership expert on a national scale. He is known for delivering innovative strategies that immediately impact his audiences across the country. Corey is also the author of five books that have been warmly patronized by leaders interested in organization and leadership development. He tackles areas of innovative-based, journey-based, entrepreneurial-based, and decision-based leadership styles across his platforms.

Corey teaches participants in his seminar how to change their narrative and carve out their niche. As someone who has been through many adversities, Corey stresses the importance of becoming powerful through innovation and conquering conflict. Since then, the speaker has held conferences at criminal justice institutions, colleges, universities, non-profit organizations, and community events. He has also spoken at Al Sharpton’s National Action Network.

Other than that, Corey was elected to serve on the Washington D.C. National Small Business Association (NSBA) Leadership Council in 2018. In the organization, he advocated for small business issues and policy reform to the local congress. Furthermore, Corey was also elected later on as the NSBA Economic Development issue committee. He was overseeing issues relating to small business finance and access to capital.

Today, Corey Parks is one of the most inspiring CEOs in the business. He has been through the highs and the lows. After being someone who overcame his circumstances, Corey firmly believes that inside everyone is a future leader. “You must tap into your greatness when building your dream,” Corey said.
