Slayer will release a limited-edition liquid-filled vinyl pressing of “Reign In Blood” on November 20, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1986 thrash metal album. The “Blood” Filled Zoetrope LP, loaded with red liquid, is billed as the first blood-infused version of the record and will be sold exclusively through Sound Of Vinyl, according to the announcement.
“Reign In Blood,” produced by Rick Rubin and released on American Recordings, was certified gold by the RIAA and has been cited by outlets including Rolling Stone and Pitchfork among the top metal and 1980s albums, the announcement says. The band has previously credited it with shaping the development of death and black metal.
To mark the anniversary, Tom Araya and Kerry King, joined by drummer Paul Bostaph and guitarist Gary Holt, are performing the album in full at select 2026 shows, including dates in Mexico City and at the Sick New World Texas festival. The run concludes with two shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on November 13 and 14, which the announcement says are sold out, with support from Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera and Crowbar, followed by headline dates in Bogotá, Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo.
