London, Ontario singer-songwriter Stephen Ingram has released “Leaving Song,” the second single from his upcoming sophomore album ‘Silly Things,’ due September 25. The track follows lead single “Sour Candy” and explores Ingram’s relationship with Hamilton, the city where he grew up before relocating to London, Ontario.
The song is built around Ingram’s banjo, with contributions from Peter Karle on acoustic guitar, Aidan Wasse on bass, Anna Grigg on cello, Mark Swan on drums and Jesse Grandmont on mandolin. It was co-produced by Ingram and Dean Nelson, who also mixed the track, with mastering by Kristian Montano.
‘Silly Things’ was written and recorded in London, Ontario, and according to the announcement took shape after Ingram received an ADHD diagnosis, with the album exploring how that has shaped his daily life and past experiences. Ingram, a graduate of Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music who has worked primarily in live theatre as a music director and performer, released his debut album ‘Fridge Magnet Symphony’ in 2023. He will hold an album release show at XUUX Artists in London, Ontario on September 26.
