FOG Blues & Brass Band have released a new EP, Backs Been Broke, following a stretch that saw two members depart and health issues affect the group, according to the band’s publicist. The nine-track project was self-produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by the band and includes the title track along with “Havana,” “FOMO Blues,” “Boys Night Out,” “CF&G,” “Read The Room,” “Why Get Up,” “I’m Ready” and “Poor Man’s Throne.”

The Canadian blues outfit added guitarist Steve Ofner and drummer Pete Pascetta to its lineup, changes the band says brought new influences to its sound. The EP, originally planned for a June 2025 release, was completed after additional time in development.

The release follows a summer of festival performances for the band, including appearances at the TD Kitchener Blues Festival, Wasaga Beach Blues Festival, Guelph Ribfest and Dresden Blues Festival. The band’s lineup also includes saxophonist Dan Jancar, a Maple Blues nominee who the band says was recently named to the inaugural Canadian Blues Music Awards Band.
